The Greater Kent Historical Society presents two programs exploring the rich culture of the Kent valley in May.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The events:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a01-3 p.m. May 4, Kent Commons, The Rainier Room, 525 Fourth Ave. N.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Michael C. Evans, a retired captain of the Kent Fire Department, is chairman of the Snohomish Tribe and the Blue Heron Canoe organization, presents a varied historical and educational program featuring native dancers, drummers and storytellers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The program is open to the public, students are especially welcome.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Cost is $10 for GKHS members, $12 for non-members, $5 for students.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Free parking is available in the City parking garage, Commons parking lot, or across the street at the ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a07 p.m. May 21, Kent Museum, 855 E. Smith St.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Eric Reitan presents a Scenic Hill history program. Originally named Knob Hill, the area was home to many business owners and a local doctor. But this is only one part of the Hill. Come hear the stories of the many residents that called this area home.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Cost is $10 for GKHS members, $12 for non-members, $5 for students.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
