Firefighters in Kent responded early Friday morning to a fire in a business park in Kent’s warehouse section. No one was injured in the blaze.

Kent Fire investigators are currently examining evidence to determine the cause of the fire, which took place at the TK Deli and Grill in the 6700 block of South 216th Street.

The fire, which was first reported at 2:10 a.m., was initially dispatched as a sprinkler water-flow alarm. This means an automatic alarm was reported to a monitoring station, telling it that a sprinkler system had activated in a business.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke in the deli and elevated the alarm to a full commercial-building fire response. Fire units from Kent and Tukwila were dispatched, as well as King County Medic One.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The sprinkler system in the business had, in fact, activated and kept the fire from growing or spreading. At least one other business in the building suffered slight water damage from the sprinkler head activation.

No one was hurt in the fire and representatives for the property are working with investigators. There is no damage estimate at this time, but officials in Kent said the sprinklers caught the fire early and that the majority of damage was water-related.
