{"id":13366,"date":"2015-12-10T11:43:55","date_gmt":"2015-12-10T19:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kent-city-council-approves-2016-budget-adjustment\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T16:20:38","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T23:20:38","slug":"kent-city-council-approves-2016-budget-adjustment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-city-council-approves-2016-budget-adjustment\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent City Council approves 2016 budget adjustment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>The Kent City Council on Tuesday night unanimously approved using excess sales tax revenue to help balance the 2016 budget.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The council approved counting on the higher than initially projected sales tax revenue rather than going with Mayor Suzette Cooke\u2019s proposal for a slight jump in property taxes to cover a $863,000 gap.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>City finance staff projects a $430,000 increase in sales tax revenue next year because of a stronger economy.
