In fact, the Kentlake High girls soccer team has more returners (nine) this fall than any team in the South Puget Sound League North Division.<\/p>\n
But it\u2019s all about chemistry. And coach Kyle Jones believes the Falcons have the right mix this fall to go along with those numbers.<\/p>\n
\u201cOut of any team I have ever coached, this one has the most chemistry,\u201d Jones said. \u201cIt is chemistry and trusting your teammates that allows you to win that extra game that we needed last year to make the playoffs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have high goals and high expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Falcons haven\u2019t made it to the postseason since 2005. This year\u2019s bunch, however, looks primed for a breakthrough, especially with all-leaguers Laura Rayfield, Frederike Dubeau and Katherine Miccile back on the pitch.<\/p>\n
Throw in six others who started last year for the Falcons, and it\u2019s understandable to see why expectations have risen.<\/p>\n
For Jones, who relates soccer to a high-stakes game of chess, it\u2019s all about matching the right pieces. And this year, he believes the pieces for a playoff berth are on the board.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year, we were missing a couple chess pieces,\u201d he said. \u201cI had to switch formations around \u2026 this year, I can drop back into what I want to run. We have good speed up front.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year, I realized steps needed to be taken (to make the playoffs),\u201d Jones added. \u201cThis year, if we don\u2019t make the playoffs, it will be devastating.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
