For the Reporter

Dave Newberry, broker and owner of Newberry Realty, and his office are participating in the Pediatric Interim Care Center (PICC) annual fundraiser luncheon on Friday, May 20.

“We have raised over $1,000 for the table to support this much-needed care center that helps the smallest victims of drug abuse,” Newberry said.

The 12th annual luncheon is from 11:25 a.m. to 1:25 p.m. at the ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St. Steve Raible, the “Voice of the Seahawks” and KIRO TV news anchor, is keynote speaker. Michelle Esteban, anchor/reporter for KOMO TV, is host.

All proceeds are dedicated to the care of newborns withdrawing from prenatal drug exposures at PICC.

PICC is a Kent clinic that cares for drug-exposed babies and medically fragile newborns. PICC brings babies safely through withdrawal from drugs, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, methadone and prescription drugs. Its program also facilitates visitation for families, provides caregiver training, follows the babies after they leave and offers a range of community outreach and education services.

“More than 12,000 infants born in the state of Washington each year are prenatally exposed to illicit drugs, and many suffer from serious effects and need the help that PICC provides,” Newberry said. “We at Newberry Realty are honored to do our part in helping these fragile newborns get the care they need for the happy and healthy life they deserve.”

A suggested minimum donation of $50 or more is appreciated at the luncheon.
