The Tri-City Americans<\/a> defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds<\/a> 5-1 Friday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick in the first game of a home-and-home series.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The T-Birds and Americans face each other in the second game of the home-and-home series on Saturday at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Seattle (13-16-0-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 6:41 of the first period on Chance Lund’s ninth goal of the year. Luke Lockhart and Tyler Alos assists on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Adam Hughesman scored a power-play goal at 12:34 of the first to tie the game 1-1. Brendan Shinnimin and Justin Feser had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Tri-City (26-7-0-0) went in front 2-1 on a power-play goal by Connor Rankin at 13:53 of the first.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Tri-City outshot Seattle 10-8 in the first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Shinnimin extended the Americans lead to 3-1 at 3:58 of the second period with his 16th goal of the season. Hughesman and Rankin were credited with the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Patrick Holland scored a four-on-four goal at 13:00 of the second to give the Americans a 4-1 lead. Mason Wilgosh and Drydn Dow were credited with the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The Americans led 24-12 in shots after two periods.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Shinnimin scored a five-on-three power-play goal at 4:51 of the third period to make it a 5-1 Tri-City lead. Hughesman and Holland had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The Americans outshot the T-Birds 30-25 in the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 25 saves on 30 shots and his record is now 13-13-0-1.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Tri-City goalie Eric Comrie stopped 23 of 24 shots and his record is now 12-3-0-0.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n T-Birds single game tickets for the 2011-12 season are available online at the T-Birds website<\/a> and at the ShoWare Center box office.
