{"id":12490,"date":"2015-05-27T16:42:53","date_gmt":"2015-05-27T23:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kent-teachers-vote-against-one-day-walkout\/"},"modified":"2016-10-21T14:30:41","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T21:30:41","slug":"kent-teachers-vote-against-one-day-walkout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-teachers-vote-against-one-day-walkout\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent teachers vote against one-day walkout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Teachers in the Kent School District decided Tuesday not to participate in a one-day walkout over lack of funding for education and class size like many of their counterparts across the state have.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Instead, the Kent Education Association members voted to take part in &#8220;family friendly activities that won&#8217;t impact families and kids nor extend our school year,&#8221; according to a post on the associations&#8217;s Facebook page. As of Wednesday, no plans for the activities had been finalized.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Previously, the association&#8217;s executive board unanimously passed a resolution endorsing the walkout, and called for members to vote on the issue at Tuesday&#8217;s meeting.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>More than 60 education associations throughout the state have participated in or are planning one-day walkouts.
