Three Congressional members of the Washington delegation, Reps. Dave Reichert, R-Auburn; Cathy McMorris Rogers, R-Spokane; and Dan Newhouse, R-Sunnyside, want Boeing and Airbus to halt or reconsider doing business with Iran.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The three on Wednesday sent a letter to Boeing President, Dennis A. Muilenburg and Airbus President, Fabrice Br\u00e9gier, urging the aircraft manufacturers to halt current or reconsider potential sales of airplanes, parts and other aircraft-related services to the Islamic Republic of Iran.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In the letter, the three explain their concerns about Iran\u2019s continued aggressive behavior, the threat the rogue nation poses to America and our allies, and ask to sit down with representatives of the aerospace companies to further discuss these concerns.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
After sending the letter, Reichert, Rogers and Newhouse issued the following statement on Friday:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite the promises Iran made on condition of implementing the widely opposed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), recent news reports indicate that Iran continues to test medium-range ballistic missiles that are capable of reaching much of the Middle East, including U.S. military bases and Israel.These most recent acts of aggression are yet another sign that Iran has no intention of moderating its behavior as a result of the nuclear deal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cWith Airbus already conducting business in Iran and Boeing working with the Administration to begin its own sales, an extremely dangerous precedent is being set for Western companies.
