Things took a quick change for the worse when a fired package delivery driver in Kent refused to leave his former workplace.

The man’s employer in the 19800 block of 85th Avenue South called 911 at about 1:11 a.m. on April 9 to get officers to help remove the former employee from the business, according to the police report. The company fired the man for failing to make a delivery a few days earlier.

When officers arrived, the man eventually walked out of the shop and got into his vehicle. But then he parked his car right behind a police patrol vehicle. The man jumped out of the car and told the officers he wanted their names and badge numbers. An officer told him his name and badge number but the man still wouldn’t leave and stood in one spot. Police told him he would be arrested if he didn’t leave and if he resisted, force would be used.

When an officer grabbed the man’s wrist, the man began to resist. Three officers ended up struggling with the man. One officer fired a Taser twice into the man’s leg but the darts didn’t stop the man. Another officer kneed the man in the back with no effect.

Finally, officers were able to handcuff the man. Police arrested him for investigation of resisting arrest and criminal trespass.

Hockey fans clash

Kent Police working security during a Seattle Thunderbirds hockey playoff game at the ShoWare Center investigated a dispute between two fans at about 5:57 p.m. on April 10 at the city-owned arena, 625 W. James St.

ShoWare Center staff called the officers to assist after breaking up an incident between two men in the concourse after the first period of the game, according to the police report. Officers didn’t make an arrest because of conflicting stories from the two men.

The confrontation in a crowded hallway reportedly involved one man bumping into another man, some name calling and a push in the chest by one of the men. Witnesses said the man who was pushed fell backward but stayed on his feet.

Arena staff took the men outside where police talked to them to try to determine what happened. An officer noted he would turn the report over to prosecutors because one man claimed he wanted to press charges.

Man wanted by state

Officers arrested a man on a felony warrant for escape from the state Department of Corrections community custody program and for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia.

An officer on patrol ran the license plate of a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse he spotted at about 3:03 a.m. on April 8 at the Shell station, 22588 84th Ave. S., according to the police report. The plate came back to a house address known by the officer for previous incidents and that the owner of the car had a felony warrant.

Police took the man into custody at the service station and found a glass pipe in his pocket when they searched him. The man told officers he used the pipe to smoke meth but didn’t have any meth with him.

An officer brought a police drug-sniffing dog to the scene and the dog gave a positive alert of narcotics from the car. Police got a search warrant for the vehicle and found a glass pipe, needles, plastic baggies with residue and other items inside the car.

Man chokes wife

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly tried to choke his wife with his hands during a domestic dispute on April 8 at a home in the 23200 block of 112th Place Southeast.

The wife told officers her husband was upset that their 2-year-old daughter had messy hair, according to the police report. The husband peed all over their bathroom to try to upset his wife before later pushing her and wrapping his hands around her throat to try to strangle her.

The husband didn’t talk to police. But in a recorded city jail phone call three days later, he admitted to his mother that he grabbed his wife by the throat and threw her down.

Things took a quick change for the worse when a fired package delivery driver in Kent refused to leave his former workplace.

[4
["post-11871","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
