{"id":11228,"date":"2012-07-06T11:52:22","date_gmt":"2012-07-06T18:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/dog-days-union-plans-charity-event-with-pacific-raceways\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T13:40:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T20:40:35","slug":"dog-days-union-plans-charity-event-with-pacific-raceways","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/dog-days-union-plans-charity-event-with-pacific-raceways\/","title":{"rendered":"Dog Days: Union plans charity event with Pacific Raceways"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Machinists Union District Lodge 751 is once again teaming up with Pacific Raceways for its annual \u201cDog Days\u201d charity fundraising event.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The Pacific Raceways Guide Dogs Fundraiser will be Aug. 17-19 at the Pacific Raceways drag strip, 31001 144th Ave. SE, Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>District 751 is selling discount tickets for Pacific Raceways\u2019 NHRA Lucas Oil Division 6 Top Fuel dragster and Funny car races, which will take place that weekend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Tickets are $5 and good for one day\u2019s entry to the races. Tickets are on sale at all District 751 union halls in Puget Sound, including the Auburn Hall, 201 A St. SW.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>In addition to the professionals, amateur racers from District 751 will take part in the weekend\u2019s activities, said Robley Evans, who heads up the Pacific Raceways event for the union.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cThere are probably 15 Machinists Union guys who race,\u201d he said. \u201cEverything from drag racers to motorcycles.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>All proceeds will go to Guide Dogs of America, a California-based charity that provides service dogs to people across North America who are blind or have impaired vision.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Machinists District 751 is the top fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America.
