{"id":11225,"date":"2015-05-28T14:54:40","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T21:54:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kent-community-foundation-announces-2015-grant-recipients\/"},"modified":"2016-10-21T13:00:55","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T20:00:55","slug":"kent-community-foundation-announces-2015-grant-recipients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-community-foundation-announces-2015-grant-recipients\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Community Foundation announces 2015 grant recipients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The Kent Community Foundation recently awarded $4,500 in grants to local organizations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The 2015 recipients are:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u2022 The City of Kent, $500 for Kent Kids&#8217; Art Day in March 2016<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u2022 Martin Sortun Elementary, $1,000 for Bringing Learning to Life with Robotics project<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u2022\u00a0Kentridge Robotics, $1,000 for Club STEM Club, a program for elementary students, and First Responders<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u2022 Coalition for Refugees from Burma, $1,000 for Youth Voices, a three-week leadership training for immigrant students from the Kent School District<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u2022 Kentridge High School, $1,000 for Girls Designing STEAM Toys<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Established in 1986 to promote education and cultural arts in the greater Kent community, the foundation has awarded almost $500,000 in grants.
