A total of 1,166 vehicle loads came through last Saturday\u2019s city of Kent Recycling Event at the Kent Phoenix Academy on the East Hill.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The vehicles carried nearly 108 tons of recyclable materials \u2013 keeping it out of the landfill and providing feedstock for manufacturers to put people to work to make new products, according to city reports.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Materials included 55,080 pounds of scrap metal and appliances, 28 toilets and sinks, 188 mattresses, 7,470 batteries and 17,900 pounds of shredded paper.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Eighty kids car and booster seats were turned in, of which nearly 20 were reusable with the rest being dismantled and components recycled.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The city’s next Recycling Event is Oct. 18 at Russell Road Park.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
