Safe Havens, the Kent-based domestic-violence visitation and exchange center, will have an open house from 4-6:30 p.m. June 22 to acknowledge and thank the community for financial contributions last month that kept the facility from closing.

Friends of Safe Havens, which helped raise the money, has organized the open house that will include light refreshments, tours and information about the next steps for the center.

Safe Havens, 407 W. Gowe St., helps keep adult and child victims of domestic violence safe while complying with court-ordered visitation or exchanges.

Kent city officials opted last month to keep the facility open for the rest of the year after more than $50,000 was raised in two weeks from private donations to help fill a funding gap of about $100,000.

If you are planning to attend the open house, RSVP to safehavens@ci.kent.wa.us or call 253-856-5074.
