{"id":10964,"date":"2013-12-26T11:12:25","date_gmt":"2013-12-26T19:12:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/vfw-post-honors-kent-cop-as-law-enforcement-officer-of-the-year\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T18:35:34","modified_gmt":"2016-10-24T01:35:34","slug":"vfw-post-honors-kent-cop-as-law-enforcement-officer-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/vfw-post-honors-kent-cop-as-law-enforcement-officer-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"VFW Post honors Kent cop as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>The Kent-Meridian Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6785 honored Kent Police officer Jeff Kluzak as its Law Enforcement Officer of the Year during its monthly meeting Dec. 18.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s nice to get the recognition,&#8221; a humble Kluzak said after receiving the award. &#8220;We&#8217;re not always looked upon favorably, so this is good recognition for the work that we do.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;I just want to thank (the VFW) for recognizing me and the Kent Police Department.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>In addition, the VFW Post 6785 has nominated Kluzak for the State Officer of the Year Award, which is expected to be announced in June.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Kluzak, 29, has been with the Kent Police since 2008 after previously working in public safety in Michigan, first as a firefighter and then a police officer.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>At Kent, he has been assigned to the patrol division and most recently, the Neighborhood Response Team. He has earned three life-saving medals, two of which occurred while on duty in Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Kluzak is married and has two children.
