At 18:22 of the first, Burke Gallimore got the T-Birds on the board. Shea Theodore moved the puck up the left side of the ice to Gallimore. The T-Birds took the lead 2-1 at 17:07 of the second period on a breakaway goal by Marcel Noebels. Hickman sent the puck to Verdino, who moved it up center ice to Noebels. Saskatoon held a 24-17 lead in shots after the second period.

The T-Birds went ahead 3-1 at 2:01 of the third on a power-play goal by Gallimore. Luke Lockhart won a face-off in the right circle back to Dave Sutter at the right point. Sutter took a slap shot that rebounded off the end boards and to the left of the goal. Gallimore grabbed the puck on the goal lone and shot it from a sharp angle, beating Makarov high.

Burns cut the T-Birds lead to one goal at 10:36 of the third with his second goal of the night. The goal was unassisted.
