Lakewood Police are still trying to find the three Pierce County men who disappeared after they were last seen Dec. 12 at a Kent apartment complex.

The men’s families have not heard from them since they left for work Dec. 12. Relatives reported the men missing Dec. 13, according to the Lakewood Police.

“We have nothing new to report on the case of the missing men,” said Lakewood Police spokesman Chris Lawler in a Dec. 27 e-mail.

The men carpooled to their jobs at the Lake Union Wholesale Florist shop in Seattle and left work at about 3:15 p.m. Dec. 12.

Police found the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado quad cab the men commuted in that day abandoned Dec. 14 at an apartment complex in the 6200 block of James Street in Kent. The men were seen briefly at the complex.

It is out of the ordinary for the men to not have contact with their families and their disappearance is suspicious, according to police.

The men are Jesus Bejar Avila, 25, of Lakewood; Yazmany Quezada Ortiz, 25, of Tacoma, and Christian Alberto Rangel, 19, of University Place.

Kent Police are working as local support for Lakewood investigators when they are in Kent, said Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery in a Dec. 30 e-mail.

“We continue to meet with their staff but have received no requests to expand our role,” Lowery said. “It’s the intent of the Lakewood Police Department to carry this case forward as their own unless they uncover evidence that a crime that has occurred in another jurisdiction.”

Anyone with information about the men is asked to call the Lakewood Police at 1-253-830-5000.
