{"id":10737,"date":"2016-02-03T16:59:18","date_gmt":"2016-02-04T00:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kent-student-earns-eagle-scout-rank\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T02:35:27","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T09:35:27","slug":"kent-student-earns-eagle-scout-rank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-student-earns-eagle-scout-rank\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent student earns Eagle Scout rank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Ben Mitchell, a senior at Kentlake High School, earned the rank of Eagle Scout and received his badge at a ceremony Sunday, Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Mitchell, son of Laura and Jason Mitchell of Kent, is a member of Troop 410 of the Boy Scouts of America, which is chartered by the Kent Washington Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The Eagle award is the BSA&#8217;s highest award for Boy Scouts, earned by less than 6 percent of all Scouts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>In addition to earning many merit badges, Mitchell completed a community Eagle project, which included landscaping and painting playground equipment at Horizon Elementary located near Lake Meridian. Mitchell is a member of the Kentlake High pep band and cross country team.
