{"id":10604,"date":"2014-12-23T15:15:15","date_gmt":"2014-12-23T23:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/squadrons-veterans-families-participate-in-wreaths-across-america\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T11:10:30","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T18:10:30","slug":"squadrons-veterans-families-participate-in-wreaths-across-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/squadrons-veterans-families-participate-in-wreaths-across-america\/","title":{"rendered":"Squadrons, veterans, families participate in Wreaths Across America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>After weather delays caused the wreaths to arrive more than a week late, members of the Green River Composite Squadron, McChord Composite Squadron and the Washington State Guard assembled and placed them at Tahoma National Cemetery on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Wreaths Across America is an annual celebration at cemeteries throughout the country.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The public joined the Green River Composite Squadron, the Civil Air Patrol and fellow veterans at the ceremony, where wreaths were placed on the graves of many veterans, honoring their long and faithful service and sacrifice to safeguard liberty.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The purpose of Wreaths Across America is to remember the fallen, to honor those who served and their families and to teach children the value of freedom.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Wreaths Across America was formed in 1992 in Harrington, Maine. From those early days, when the first wreaths were placed in Arlington National Cemetery, the program has expanded to cemeteries throughout the country.
