Residents can attend a Kent Police Department community awareness meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9 in an effort to make their neighborhoods safer.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Meridian Elementary School, 25621 140th Ave. S.E.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The focus of the meeting is to bring police leadership and community members together to address crime concerns and introduce resources that police can provide to assist residents in making their neighborhoods safer and more secure, according to a police media release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas and agency administrators will answer questions about department operations and community safety concerns. Members of the department\u2019s Neighborhood Response Team and the department\u2019s Community Education unit will answer questions and take input regarding specific issues or concerns.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
A Special Investigations Unit detective will give a special presentation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
A cornerstone of the Kent Police strategy for creating safer communities is Intelligence Led Policing. This practice uses real-time crime intelligence, sharing information with our partners, pro-active problem solving, and community partnerships to address the issues of crime while improving the quality of life.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
