Pianist Alpin Hong<\/a>, in Kent for a March 18 concert, also took time to stop by a few schools for educational outreach assemblies.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Hong presented his “From Movies to Games, Classically Trained” assembly March 16-18 at Mill Creek Middle School, Meridian Middle School, Meeker Middle School and Kent-Meridian High School.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Hong, a Michigan native, has earned a reputation as a modern day Pied Piper for his American tours and performances. His combination of humor, emotion and dazzling technique brings audiences of all ages to their feet.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He performs at 7:30 p.m. March 18 at the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 SE 256th St., as part of the city of Kent Spotlight Series.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Hong’s extensive classical training (a master\u2019s degree from The Julliard School), matched with his background in skateboarding, snowboarding, martial arts and video games forms a creative force unmatched in its youthful vivacity and boundless energy, according to a city media release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He made his orchestral debut with the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Symphony at the age of 10. He later moved to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Tickets are $26 for adults, $24 for seniors ages 55 and older and $20 for youth ages 25 and younger.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
