Kent team reaches semifinals of PGA Jr. League regionals

Meridian Valley Country Club team loses in Idaho to Utah squad

A team of teen golfers from the Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent advanced to the semifinals before losing at the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional Sept. 9-11 at Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The team included Brianna Nguyen, 15, of Bellevue; Kaitlin Ojendyk, 14, of Newcastle; Kylie Nguyen, 16, of Federal Way; Lexie Mahler, 14, of Buckley; Lexi Trummert, 15, of Puyallup; and Prisco Vacca, 16 of Auburn. They competed with Meridian Valley Country Club as the facility hosted its own league during the recreational season.

Meridian Valley competed in the 17-under Division All-Star teams for boys and girls. Meridian Valley was seeded fourth out of five teams after opening rounds to advance to the semifinals against top-seeded Glenmoor of Utah, an all-boys team. Eighteen-hole team aggregate total determined match play advancement.

Players are assigned to tees based on their league age (birthdate just before all-star season starts) and gender.
