Construction of Topgolf driving range underway in Renton

The Puget Sound’s first Topgolf is promised to be unlike any other in the country.

Ground was broken Aug. 3 and construction has begun on a new state-of-the-art golf entertainment facility near The Landing in Renton.

The Topgolf facility, 780 Logan Ave. N., will be a driving range arcade-like entertainment center meant to serve the entire Seattle-Puget Sound Region.

Getting the project started has been a “long road coming,” according to Tanner Micheli, Topgolf director of real estate development, who worked with city planners and officials to get to the point of initial construction.

After years of planning and design, Micheli said “there were times [they] weren’t quite sure [they] were gonna get this thing done.”

He said the design process for the facility utilized many iterations and redesigns but compromised that this Topgolf facility will be the first of its kind.

According to the Topgolf website, the Renton facility will include climate-controlled hitting bays, full-service restaurants and bars, a rooptop terrace with a firepit and private meeting spaces.

Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone said this project represents a symbolic post-pandemic “rebirth,” for the community as it continues to grow and adds amenities for the entire Puget Sound region.

Construction is expected to be completed in a year.
