It may not be basketball season, but Kentwood High star Lindsey Moore remains at full throttle.
On Thursday afternoon, USA Basketball announced that 27 of the nation’s top 19-and-under athletes have accepted invitations to attend the 2009 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship trials.
Moore was was among those 27 who accepted invitations.
This past season at Kentwood High, Moore led the Conquerors to their first-ever state championship. The 5-foot-10 senior guard, who will be playing next year at the University of Nebraska, averaged 15.7 points and 7.5 assists per game this past season.
In addition, Moore was named a Parade All-American and also was tabbed the Gatorade State Player of the Year.
Seven of the players who accepted invitations are returning from last year’s gold-medal winning USA U18 National team.
Trials to select finalists for the 2009 U19 squad will be held May 14-17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Training camp will begin on July 8 in Colorado Springs, and the eventual 12-member roster will be announced prior to the team departing for Thailand.
