The Seattle Thunderbirds selected forward Mikhal Senturin with their first round pick, 35th overall, in the 2009 CHL Import Draft last month.

Senturin, at 6 feet and 176 pounds, has played the last two years with Moscow Dynamo. He was born Aug. 17, 1992, and is eligible for the 2010 National Hockey League Draft.

In 2008-09 with the Dynamo, Senturin appeared in 24 games and had 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points. In 2007-08 with the Dynamo he played in 36 games and had 25 goals and 15 assists for 40 points.

Senturin was a member of the Under-16 and Under-17 Russian National team the last two years.

The T-Birds selected defenseman Stefan Warg in last year’s import draft. Warg, a fifth round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2008, will be entering his second year with the T-Birds this coming season.

The T-Birds will open their season Friday, Sept. 18, at 7:35 p.m. against the Everett Silvertips at ShoWare Center. The complete 2009-10 regular season schedule will be released in early August.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season will go on sale 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 online on the T-Birds Web site and at the ShoWare Center box office.

The Thunderbirds have a five-game preseason schedule. The only home preseason game of the year will be Saturday, Sept. 12, against the Everett Silvertips at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m. This game is a special fundraiser game for the Kent School District.

The T-Birds will face the Portland Winterhawks at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Memorial Coliseum. They will then play three games in the Silvertips Preseason Tournament at Comcast Arena over Labor Day Weekend. They will play the Prince George Cougars on Friday, Sept. 4 at 11:30 a.m. The T-Birds then take on the Silvertips at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. They finish out the weekend against the Spokane Chiefs at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.

T-Birds season tickets are also currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T- Birds office at 253-239-PUCK.

The Western Hockey League (WHL), along with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), are the three leagues that take part in the CHL Import Draft.

An Import Player is defined as a player whose parent (s) do not reside in Canada, or the United States, as of January 11 preceding that year’s CHL Import Draft. If a CHL club has no Import Players, they are eligible to draft two Import Players, if they have one import, they are allowed to draft one, and if they have two Import Players they are not eligible to participate in the draft.
