For the Reporter
The Seattle Thunderbirds traded forward Jaimen Yakubowski to the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a third round pick in the 2016 Bantam Draft, general manager Russ Farwell announced Wednesday.
“With the number of 20-year-old players we have eligible to return we knew we had to find a place for a few of our guys,” Farwell said. “Although we cannot make final decisions until after NHL training camps are completed we felt this was a good opportunity for Yakubowski and good value in return for our team.
“Jaimen was a valuable contributor to our team last year and had an outstanding playoff series against Everett. We wish him the best of luck in Moose Jaw,” Farwell said. “We will now proceed with training camp and wait to see who all is available to us for this season after the completion of NHL training camps.”
Yakubowski, a 20-year-old, appeared in 47 games for the T-Birds last season and recorded nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points, with 128 penalty minutes. In 192 games with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and T-Birds over four seasons Yakubowski had 58 goals, 39 assists for 97 points and 386 penalty minutes.
