For the Reporter

The Tacoma Stars (1-0) continue their first full season in the Major Arena Soccer League this weekend with a set of three-games in California.

The club visits the Turlock Express (1-0) on Friday and squares off with the Sacramento Surge (0-3) on Saturday and Sunday.

The Stars opened their MASL schedule with a 5-1 home victory over the Surge last Friday in front of 3,710 fans at the ShoWare Center. Forward Dan Antoniuk scored a team-best three goals and goalkeeper Danny Waltman notched 16 saves on 17 shots, earning the pair a selection to the MASL Team of the Week for week three. Waltman leads the league in goals against average (1.00) and save percentage (.941).

Turlock has played just one game this season, a 6-5 victory at home over Sacramento on Oct. 30. Defender Jose Barajas and midfielder Adrian Gutierrez notched three and two goals for the Express in the match, respectively. Turlock goalkeeper Edgar Martinez’s .848 save percentage is the second best mark in the league behind Waltman.

The Surge have dropped each of their first three MASL contests this season while being out-scored 17-11. Sacramento goalkeeper Chris Welch leads the league with 67 saves on 84 shots and has posted a .798 save percentage, the fourth best mark in the circuit. Midfielders Mike Tobie (16) and Anibal Echeverria (15) are first and second in the MASL in shots, respectively.

First kick for the Friday matchup with Turlock is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., while the games at Sacramento on Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. Live stats for all three games can be found online at www.maslsoccer.com, while a live webcast can be viewed at www.golivesportscast.com.
