For the Reporter

The Tacoma Stars (6-3) wrap up the calendar year with a pair of weekend road matches against the Ontario Fury (3-3) on Friday and Las Vegas Legends (7-2) on Saturday.

The Stars are fresh off a weekend split on the road, including a 12-5 loss to the Missouri Comets and an overtime victory over the St. Louis Ambush. Tacoma midfielder Jamael Cox earned Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week honors after posting a pair of goals and an assist last weekend, including the game-winning goal over the Ambush.

Tacoma goalkeeper Danny Waltman, who received MASL Team of the Week honorable mention last week, is ranked in the top five in the league in minutes (second, 548:25), goals against average (fourth, 4.70), and saves (fourth, 125).

Ontario is led by forward Mauricio Salles, who has tallied 15 points for the Fury on a team-best nine goals and six assists. A total of 13 players have scored goals for Ontario this season, while the offense has averaged 7.33 goals per game through their first six contests. Sanaldo Freitas de Carvalho has spent over 370 minutes in goal for the Fury, posting a .676 save percentage while allowing 7.74 goals per game.

Defender Eric Guzman leads Las Vegas and ranks fourth in the MASL with 22 points coming off nine goals and 13 assists. Six separate players have collected double-digit point totals for the Legends, while the club’s offense has averaged 7.9 goals per game – Las Vegas’ 65 total goals this season is the third highest mark in the league. Manabu Kaji and Hector Casillas have split time in goal for the Legends, combining for 148 saves on 193 shots.
