The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Goalie Cole Schwebius, in his first career start, made 39 saves on 41 shots and gave the T-Birds (2-1-1-0) a chance to win. Schwebius, from Kelowna, British Columbia, was the T-Birds’ 10th-round pick in the 2016 Bantam Draft.
Everett (3-2-0-0) took a 1-0 lead on Bryce Kindopp’s power-play goal at 10:45 of the third period. Connor Dewar and Riley Sutter had the assists.
Everett’s Sean Richards was called for a checking to the head major while the Silvertips were on a power play. After 19 seconds of four-on-four play, the T-Birds had a power play for 4:41.
Dillon Hamaliuk tied the game 1-1 a second after the five-minute major penalty ended.
Hamaliuk came out of the right corner and powered to the net, beating Everett goalie Dustin Wolf with a shot over the right pad for his fourth goal in as many games. Noah Philp and Jake Lee had the assists.
Dewar won the game 17 seconds into overtime off an assist from Kindopp.
Wolf had 16 saves on 17 shots.

The T-Birds host the Kelowna Rockets at 6:05 p.m. Saturday at the accesso ShoWare Center.
