More than 600 players are expected at the fourth annual ShoWare Shootout 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday and Sunday at the ShoWare Center parking lot.
Hundreds of games will feature players as young as the third grade as well as a wheelchair division. Players signed up for divisions for men, women, seniors, kids and wheelchair.

Steve Turcotte, who organizes the event each year, said he expects to have 160 teams with three or four players on the roster playing on 17 to 19 courts. In addition to the basketball games, people will compete in hockey ball games.
Standard basketball rules will apply with some small changes. One point for a shot made from inside the 3-point line, two points for a shot outside the line. Fouling on a player’s shot inside the 3-point line will give the player one free throw or two for a foul outside the line.
Turcotte said he expects to see more than 600 people at this year’s event, a steady growth from 115 at the first shootout in 2010.
The entry fee was $75 per team for any division. The entry fee includes a guarantee of four games, a T-shirt, and extra T-shirt if the team wins the championship game of the division.
Each division will play on its own court with a main court hosting the top divisions. The main court will be set up in the middle of the ShoWare parking lot.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be given to Kent Youth and Family Services.
