The Seattle Thunderbirds junior hockey team Wednesday acquired left wing Riley Sheen from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for right wing Jake Doty.
Sheen, 17, from Edmonton, Alberta, appeared in 46 games last season with the Tigers. In his Western Hockey League rookie season he had a goal and two assists for three points with 13 penalty minutes.
“We are excited to add Riley to our team,” said T-Birds General Manager Russ Farwell. “There is more of an opportunity here for him to play an offensive role which he has shown during his minor hockey years. We feel he is a good fit for our team at this time.”
Doty played 130 games in three seasons with the T-Birds. He had six goals and eight assists for 14 points with 294 penalty minutes.
“Jake wanted a fresh start with another team and we wish him the best with Medicine Hat,” Farwell said.
