Kentridge High School’s Francis Viloria, tennis, was selected as the Kent Reporter’s Male Athlete of the Week for Sept. 21.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Chemistry. I enjoy it. It just comes easy to me.
Q: What other activities do you participate in?
A: I enjoy playing video games. I usually play on Xbox and PC and even older consoles when I have the time.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My brother has always been crucial to my success. We always competed growing up. Now that he’s no longer playing tennis competitively, he’s taking time to train me. He also drives me nearly everywhere since our parents always have their hands full.
Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?
A: Right before a match, I pound my chest three times to symbolize the three members of my family – mom, dad, brother. Then I point to the sky to acknowledge God watching me.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: “Lucky You” by Eminem has been replaying on my phone nonstop lately so that’s my song of choice right now.
