BASEBALL

TROJAN SUMMER CAMPS

Camps in BASEBALL and FASTPITCH are scheduled for June 23-27 at the Auburn High School baseball complex. Elementary-age players will meet from 9-11:30 a.m.; and middle school-age players will meet from 1-3:30 p.m. The cost is $115, and includes a T-shirt. Early registration is encouraged. The focus will be on offense, defense, speed training, throwing arm care, throwing programs, base-running concepts and position-specific instruction. The camps will be directed by coach Brian Embery. GRAND SLAM CAMPS

These camps are for players ages 6-12, and are staffed by local high school coaches and current college players who teach fundamentals in a fun, upbeat environment. Camps are scheduled for July 7-10 at Daffodil Park in Sumner, July 14-17 at Petrovitsky Park in Renton, and July 21-24 at South County Ballfield Park in Federal Way. The cost is $99. BASKETBALL

KENTLAKE BOYS HOOP CAMP

This camp for players who will be entering grades 2-9 is scheduled for June 24-27 at Kentlake High School, 21401 S.E. 300th St. It will be directed by Kentlake coaches Ron Charrier and Jeff Martin. The cost is $95 if registered by June 1, and $100 thereafter, and includes a camp T-shirt and basketball. KENTLAKE GIRLS CAMP

TAHOMA CAMP

This camp is for players entering grades 3-9. It is scheduled for June 30-July 3 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day at Tahoma High School. The cost is $100 and includes a camp T-shirt and basketball. More information: e-mail to Erin Powell at epowell@tahomasd.us.

MAPLE VALLEY SUMMER LEAGUE

This league is for players entering grades 3-9. It will take place for three weeks on a Tuesday-Thursday basis at Tahoma High School. The cost is $50 and includes a reversible jersey. SHOTCALLERS TOURNAMENT

This tournament is schedule for June 13-15 at Sumner and Bonney Lake high schools. It is open to boys and girls teams in grades 5-12. The team entry fee is $215, with a three-game guarantee. GRACE BASKETBALL CAMP

VI SLAMMA JAMMA TOURNAMENT

BOATING

KENT DRAGON BOAT ASSOCIATION

The association is inviting anyone interested in paddling a 48-foot dragon boat to Lake Meridian in Kent on Saturdays (before 8 a.m.) and Tuesdays (6 p.m.) through mid October. FISHING

STEELHEAD SUMMIT

This bi-anual gathering of concerned groups, anglers and citizens to discuss the latest issues facing steelhead throughout their range, is scheduled for Saturday May 31, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Seattle Airport Marriott. FOOTBALL

PUGET SOUND FOOTBALL CAMP

This camp is for players who will be entering grades 4-9 in the fall. It is scheduled for June 30-July 3 at French Field on the campus of Kent-Meridian High School. It is a non-contact camp and runs from 9 a.m.-noon each day. It will be directed by Kentridge High head coach Marty Osborn, and the camp staff will include coaches from Kentridge and other area high schools and junior highs, as well as current Kentridge seniors and former players now in college. GOLF

KENT CHAMBER GOLF CLASSIC

The 30th annual edition of this tournament is scheduled for Monday, July 14, at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn. Play goes from noon-9 p.m. The early-bird registration fee (due by May 16) is $175 for a single, which includes lunch, dinner and two drink tickets, or $680 for a foursome, which includes lunch, dinner and two drink tickets for the foursome. Players will be encouraged to dress up in the colors of their favorite college team (within Washington National’s dress code.) SPONSORS are desired. More information: (253) 854-1770.

KENTWOOD HS TOURNAMENT

A tournament to benefit the Kentwood High baseball program is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, at 8 a.m. at Druids Glenn Golf Course. The format is Mexican scramble. The cost is $100, and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, prizes and an auction/spaghetti dinner event. For those wishing to attend just the dinner, which begins at 5 p.m., the cost is $5 per person, or $20 per family. SAILING

RENTON SAILING CLUB CLASSES

A four-session INTRO TO BASIC SAILING class will be offered on Wednesdays, with classes now under way, and the last series beginning Sept. 3. It is open to ages 9 and older. Instruction will be offered in how to rig and sail a small dinghy, all within a confined area. The cost is $32 for Renton residents and $38 for non-residents.

An eight-session RED CROSS-CERTIFIED SMALL-BOAT SAILING class will be offered on a Thursday-Friday basis for four weeks, with classes now under way, and the last series beginning on Sept. 4. The cost is $80 for residents and $95 for non-residents.

VOLLEYBALL
