Early registrations for the 2008-09 TRAINING YEAR CYCLE, which begins. Sept. 1, are being accepted. Team and individual sessions are available. The club is forming new 8- and 10-year-old teams to join its 12, 14, 16 and 18 age squads. Teams have limited spots available. Individual players may train with existing teams.
TEAM FACILITY RENTAL REQUESTS are being accepted. Options include rental only, or team training provided by Coach Embery. Limited time slots are available.

CYCLING
EMERALD CITY LIGHTS RIDE/5K WALK
This ride, with available loops of 18, 30 or 65 miles, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6. It starts and finishes at Game Farm Park in Auburn. Riders can start at 8 a.m., and the course closes at 4 p.m. The cost for the bike ride is $35 prior to Sept. 6, or $45 on the day of the event. For the walk, it’s $15 prior to Sept. 6, and $20 on the day of the event. Proceeds benefit Our Daily Bread Basket. All participants are requested to bring two cans of food for community food banks. MAPLE VALLEY ADULT FLAG LEAGUE
This 6-on-6, no-contact league is being offered by Maple Valley Parks. Teams will play one jamboree game and seven regular-season games. If enough teams sign up, two divisions – Recreational and Competitive – will be offered. The jamboree is Sept. 6, the regular season begins Sept. 13, with playoffs for the top four teams in each division beginning Nov. 1. Games are played at Lake Wilderness Park. The team registration fee is $470. OFFICIALS are needed to work 2-6 hours on Saturday, with pay ranging from $18 to $22 per hour. TEAM SPONSORS also are needed. RENTON SAILING CLUB CLASSES
A four-session INTRO TO BASIC SAILING class will be offered on Wednesdays, with classes now under way, and the last series beginning Sept. 3. It is open to ages 9 and older. Instruction will be offered in how to rig and sail a small dinghy, all within a confined area. The cost is $32 for Renton residents and $38 for non-residents.
An eight-session RED CROSS-CERTIFIED SMALL-BOAT SAILING class will be offered on a Thursday-Friday basis for four weeks, with classes now under way, and the last series beginning on Sept. 4. The cost is $80 for residents and $95 for non-residents.

Leagues for boys and girls in Pre-K through Grade 6 are forming. Leagues are formed by grades, with Pre-K and K/1st playing coed, and all others (Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) having separate boys and girls leagues. The registration fee is $45.
