The Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-4 Oct. 13 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
The T-Birds opened the scoring at 2:26 of the first period. Sena Acolatse carried the puck behind the Prince Albert net and fed Jonathan Parker skating across the slot. Parker put the puck over Prince Albert goalie Garrett Zemlak’s blocker to give the T-Birds a 1- 0 lead. Tanner Muth also assisted on the goal.
Prince Albert (5-6-0-0) tied the game 1-1 at 7:19 of the first on Ryan Harrison’s third goal of the year. Craig McCallum and Igor Revenko both assisted on the power-play goal.
Prince Albert took the lead with 7:48 remaining in the first period when Nathan Deck scored his third goal of the season. Dustin Cameron and Ryan Harrison had assists on the goal.
The Raiders took a 3-1 lead at 15:37 of the first on a four-on-four goal by Craig McCallum. Brandon Herrod and Jordan Rowley had assists on the goal.
The Raiders outshot the T-Birds 13-8 in the first period.
Dustin Cameron scored Prince Albert’s fourth goal of the game at 9:51 of the second period. Igor Revenko and Ryan Harrison had assists.
The T-Birds outshot the Raiders 15-12 in the second period but the Raiders led 25-23 in total shots going into the second intermission.
The Raiders took a 5-1 lead at 7:38 of the third period on Nathan Deck’s second goal of the game, his fourth of the season. Ryan Harrison and Dustin Cameron had the assists.
The T-Birds cut the deficit to 5-2 when Brad Haber scored his first goal of the season with 10:27 remaining in the third period. Defenseman Stefan Warg and left wing Mitch Elliot assisted on the goal.
Seattle further trimmed the lead when Tyler Alos scored his second goal of the season. Parker put the puck on net and Prince Albert goalie Garrett Zemlak couldn’t control the rebound. Alos scored off a scramble in front of the Raiders net. Jeremy Schappert had the second assist on the goal which came with Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard pulled for an extra attacker.
Seattle kept Pickard on the bench and 32 seconds after Alos’ goal Prab Rai beat Zemlak over the glove. Charles Wells entered the Prince Albert zone and took a shot on goal. Rai was trailing the play, got the rebound and beat Zemlak. Steve Chaffin had the second assist on the goal.
The Raiders put the game away on an empty-net goal by Brandon Herrod with 14 seconds remaining. Nathan Deck and Ryan Button assisted on the goal.
Seattle (2-6-0-1) outshot Prince Albert 15-5 in the third period and 38-30 in the game.
Pickard made 25 saves on 29 shots and his record is now 2-3-0-1.
Zemlak stopped 34 of 38 shots and his record is now 5-3-0-0.
Mikhail Sentyurin received his release from Moscow Dynamo on Tuesday morning and can now start taking part in T-Birds team activities. He will practice for the first time with the T-Birds on Wednesday and could play this weekend against the Everett Silvertips in Everett on Friday at 7:35 p.m. and at home at ShoWare Center on Saturday, October 17, at 7:05 p.m. against the Prince George Cougars.
