JESSE KELIILIKI, Kentlake
Grade: Senior.
Sport: Wrestling.
Accomplishment: After opening the state tournament with a loss, Keliiliki won four straight matches en route to a fourth-place finish in the 171-pound weight class.
Favorite class: Weight training.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I’d invite Katy Perry, and I would serve homemade macaroni and cheese with a side of pizza rolls. Greatest athletic moment: My greatest athletic moment is definitely taking fourth at state.  
In 10 years, I will be …: Playing professional baseball.

RUBEN NAVEJAS, Kentwood
Grade: Senior.
Sport: Wrestling.
Accomplishment: Navejas finished off a perfect season by winning the Class 4A 112-pound state championship at Mat Classic XXIII.
Favorite class: Astronomy.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite my family and wrestling teammates Hayden Peterson, Jose Hernandez, Raymond Paz, Lucas Kelley and James Hatfield. We would eat Whiskey River BBQ burgers and drink freckled lemonade from Red Robin.
Greatest athletic moment: Winning an undefeated state title.
Currently playing on your iPod: “Misery” by Maroon 5.

 

AMY HIRAKI, Kentridge
Grade: Freshman.
Sport: Gymnastics.
Accomplishment: Hiraki, one of just a handful of freshmen to qualify for the state meet, took 30th on bars with a score of 7.4.
Favorite class: Honors English.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Taylor Swift and I would serve the best fried chicken in the world with mashed potatoes, corn and gravy.
Most recent book read/author: “Leaving Paradise” and “Return to Paradise” by Simone Elkeles. 
In 10 years, I will be …: Graduated from a university with a high grade-point average … and starting my own career.

JAWAN STEPNEY, Kentridge
Grade: Freshman.
Sport: Basketball.
Accomplishment: Stepney scored a season-best 15 points in a win over Arlington in Kentridge’s first-round state playoff game, then delivered 18 the next night in a second-round win over Auburn.
Favorite class: History.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: If I could invite one person in the world to dinner it would have to be (NBA player) Chris Paul. I would serve fried chicken with pasta or lasagna.
Most recent book read/author: “The Punch” by John Feinstein.
Currently playing on your iPod: “The Based God” by Lil B.  
In 10 years, I will be …: Hopefully an NBA star who has his degree.

 

LUKE BARZIE, Kent-Meridian
Grade: Junior.
Sport: Wrestling.
Accomplishment: Barzie won four of six matches at the state tournament and finished in fifth place.
Favorite class: Weight lifting.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: My father because he died when I lived in West Africa during war times. I would serve Fufu — African food.
Most recent book read/author: “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Next” by Ken Kesey.
Currently playing on your iPod: Lil’ Wayne and Young Money.  
In 10 years, I will be …: Playing in the NFL.
