Kent natives Courtney Vandersloot and Lindsey Moore have enjoyed their share of success on the women’s basketball court this season. Vandersloot, a 2007 Kentwood High graduate who now plays at Gonzaga, led the Bulldogs to a 72-71 upset victory over Texas A& M on Monday night in a second-round NCAA tournament game.

They know the season rides on their shoulders.
As always, Kentlake High’s interchangeable pitching aces Zach Wright and Doug Christie remain unflappable, calm as ever with the road that lies ahead. The Falcon flamethrowers don’t have time these days for panic. Never have. Never will.
The numbers are in.
And for the Kentridge High baseball team, those numbers are looking pretty good this spring. In a league loaded with talent from top to bottom, no team returns as many all-league players as the Chargers.
As such, reason for excitement – and a reason to believe a return to the postseason is imminent – remains legitimate.
Less than two weeks after guiding the Kentwood High boys basketball team to its first state championship since 2004, coach Michael Angelidis is stepping down.
Well it is spring training time again and I have to tell you that I am becoming impressed with the Mariners this year. Any wrinkles that we may have expected should be ironed out before training is very far down the road.

The old adage didn’t add up for the Kentwood High girls basketball team Friday afternoon. The defending state champion Conquerors ran out of steam at the Tacoma Dome, falling for the third time this season to Bellarmine Prep 63-49 in loser-out Class 4A state tournament consolation game.

Kentridge High girls basketball coach Mark Champoux recently stepped down from his post after four years with the program.
For Champoux, whose wife is expecting a baby girl in May, the reason to step down was clear — family trumps basketball. The former Kentridge coach has already has two children at home, ages 3 and 12.
