One of the biggest names on the local soccer scene will be appearing at French Field Wednesday night.
Roger Levesque, a starting forward for the Seattle Sounders FC, will be on hand from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at French Field Oct. 6 for the Kent Youth Soccer Association Community Night.
Ronnie Flowers had been waiting for this opportunity.
Friday night at a packed French Field, the moment finally came for the second-year Kentwood High senior.

Things are finally coming together for the Kentridge High girls soccer team.
After a slow start to the season, the Chargers got on track last week thanks to a huge offensive performance by Katie Clayton.
Clayton scored one goal, and assisted on four others on Sept. 23, lifting the Chargers past Mount Rainier 6-2 in a South Puget Sound League North Division game.
They’ve been beaten up and bloodied.
Injuries have become an all-too common theme this fall for the Kentwood High girls soccer team.

When it comes to the Auburn High football team's rushing game, pick your poison. The Trojans have been successful — and then some — with all three options since returning to the South Puget Sound League North Division two years ago. In fact, since returning to the North, the Trojans have run the league ragged, winning the past two league championships without a loss.
The Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Portland Winterhawks 4-1 Saturday evening in their home opener at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
Seattle (1-1-0-0) outshot Portland 15-10 during a scoreless first period.
The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 Friday night at Comcast Arena in Everett in the season opening game for both teams.
The Kent-Meridian High football team needed this one.
Mount Rainier? Not so much.

More than at any point during the past decade, the race for the South Puget Sound League North Division title on the volleyball court appears to be up in the air.
“It really will be wide open,” said Kent-Meridian coach Michael Christiansen. “I think for a team to win our league, it has to go undefeated.”
Talk to Glen Goodall for just a few minutes, and the excitement is palpable. Through the twang of a slight Canadian accent, the former Thunderbird phenom’s voice goes up a few notches when he talks about his upcoming trip.
He’s going back to where it all started: to the team that retired his jersey after six glorious years of making fans sit on the edge of their seats.
She grew up in a soccer household.
But when push came to shove two years ago, Kailey Ulland chose cross country.
“It’s kind of a joke with my family that I chose cross country instead of soccer because we’re a soccer family,” laughed Ulland, a Kentwood senior.
She's taking her basketball — and signature headband — and heading east.
Kylie Huerta, Kentwood's diminutive point guard who is known as much for draining clutch jumpers as she is for wearing a variety of different colored headbands during the course of the season, verbally committed last week to play next year at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

This was supposed to be the first big challenge of the season for the Kentwood High football team.
Instead, Friday night’s showdown against Tahoma at Bill Maxwell Stadium proved to be more of the same as the Conquerors blasted the Bears 49-3 in a South Puget Sound League North Division game.
Five different Kentwood players reached the end zone – led by a pair of touchdown runs by Mikell Everette and Lonzell Young – as the Conquerors rolled up 442 total yards of offense and punted just twice.
