The Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in a shootout Sunday night at the Civic Centre in Moose Jaw.

The game was tied 1-1 after 65 minutes of play to send the game to a shootout. Moose Jaw elected to shoot first in the shootout.

Antonin Honejsek was the first shooter for Moose Jaw. Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped Honejsek’s five-hole attempt. Burke Gallimore was Seattle’s first shooter and his attempt went wide on the stick side of Moose Jaw goalie Thomas Heemskerk.

Brendan Rowinski was the second Warriors shooter and he tried to go five-hole too. Pickard made the stop with his right pad. Marcel Noebels was the second Seattle shooter. Noebels came down on Heemskerk and put a snap shot on goal that Heemskerk snapped his glove at and caught.

Quinton Howden was the third Moose Jaw shooter. He came down on Pickard, brought the puck to his backhand and lifted the puck over Pickard’s glove to score. Luke Lockhart was the T-Birds third shooter and needed to score to keep the T-Birds in the game. Lockhart was denied by a left pad save by Heemskerk.

Moose Jaw outshot Seattle 13-7 in the first period.

Seattle (6-4-2-3) took a 1-0 lead at 11:02 of the second period on 5-on-3 power-play goal by Noebels. Lockhart got the puck to the left of Moose Jaw goalie Thomas Heemskerk.
