Mill Creek Middle School routed Meridian 42-0 to capture a share of the Kent School District’s eighth-grade football championship at French Field on Oct. 25.
Mill Creek and Northwood, which did not meet during the regular season, finished unbeaten in six league games and wound up as co-champions.
For Mill Creek, quarterback Marquis Pressley, fullback Derrique Mann, tailback Anthony Bui and receiver Melik Vann-Mcgee led the Bulldogs’ attack. Fred Daigbe, Kris Monje, Oscar Aga’Morash and Lewis Kalaniuvalu, who weighs 280 pounds, provided the muscle.
The unbeaten Bulldogs gave up only two touchdowns all season.
“The most selfless group I have ever coached,” Jeff Kuolt said.
“The support of our administration setting up study tables to help our players maintain their grades during the season and running a Ruff Ruff run as a fundraiser to help with financial support to pay for gear was unbelievable.”
