Kent native and Kentridge High product Mike Larabee was named earlier this week as the new head fastpitch coach at the University of Arkansas.
Larabee just completed his fifth season at Wright State in Dayton, Ohio, where his teams ranked among the nation’s top 15 in batting average each of the last two years. He won 92 games in the past three seasons and helped Wright State earn an NCAA tournament bid in 2007 and 2008. Before coaching at Wright State, Larabee was an assistant fastpitch coach at the University of Illinois.
Before moving onto the college ranks, Larabee built Kentlake, where he was the head coach from 1998-2001, into a state power. He also has been an assistant football coach at Kentridge and an assistant baseball coach at Kent-Meridian.
