Kentwood’s Sara Hanson has announced her intention to attend Dordt College (Sioux Center, Iowa) and join the Defender volleyball program.

Hanson, a 5-foot-4 defensive specialist, compiled 136 digs with 23 ace serves last year as Kentwood finished fourth at the state tournament. She was also a part of a South Puget Sound League title winning team in 2015.

“Sara will provide a strong presence in our ball control position. Her ability to read the attackers shots and communicate with teammates will be great additions to our program. Her successful Kentwood High School program led by coach Bil Caillier has enabled her to play at the highest levels of the state,” said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson. “We are grateful for his work and look forward to furthering Sara’s development here at Dordt. She has an outgoing personality and makes others feel comfortable. Sara will be a wonderful fit here at Dordt and in our program.”

Sara Hanson, the daughter of Kevin and Jenna Hanson of Kent, plans to enter the pre-physical therapy program.

Dordt College is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
