For the Reporter

There will be a new voice calling all the action this summer for the Wenatchee AppleSox.

Kent native Trevor Williams, who attends the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, has been hired at the team’s radio broadcaster for the 2014 season.

Fans can hear Williams announce all 58 AppleSox game this summer on the team’s new flagship station, 93.9 Sunny FM.

“Words do not adequately describe how excited and honored I am to be the next radio play-by-play voice of the Wenatchee AppleSox,” said Williams, a Kentwood High School graduate. “I want to thank the AppleSox organization for believing in my abilities and trusting me with this tremendous opportunity.

“I can’t wait for the start of the 2014 baseball season and am eager share a game that I love with the best fans in the West Coast League,” Williams said. “It is my goal that this season, at the ballpark and on-air, we can all celebrate summer one inning at a time, together.”

Williams has been active during his time at WSU. He has announced football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and will begin broadcasting baseball this month for the school’s student radio station, kugr.org.

In addition to his on-air experience at WSU, Williams works for the athletic communications department and has served as a reporter for The Daily Evergreen.

Last summer he interned for Sports Radio 950 KJR in Seattle and was the lead play-by-play announcer for Kentwood basketball for Game Time Northwest.

Williams makes his debut for the AppleSox behind the mic on June 4 when the season begins with a two-game series at home against the San Francisco Seals.

The AppleSox will play a 59-game schedule this summer that includes 32 homes games. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the AppleSox office at 509-665-6900.
