Gary Bell Jr., a Kentridge High graduate, scored 15 points to help the No. 19 Gonzaga men’s basketball team beat the West Virginia Mountaineers 84-50 on Monday night.
Gonzaga is off to a 2-0 start.
Bell made back-to-back baskets to give Gonzaga a 34-12 lead with 4 minutes, 4 seconds remaining in the first half. Gonzaga led 45-18 at halftime.
The sophomore guard had eight points as Gonzaga opened the season with a 103-65 win over Southern Utah.
Kentridge placed in Washington State Class 4A Tournament twice with Bell, third his sophomore year and sixth as a senior. As a senior, Bell led the Class 4A State Tournament in total points with 128 and was fifth in scoring average at 25.6 points per game.
