Kent-Meridian High School’s Karl Affeldt, junior, swimming and tennis, is the Kent Reporter’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Biology because I really enjoy science.
Q: What other activities do you participate in?
A: Sports medicine, tennis, swimming.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My IB advisor, Mrs. McClung, has set me up academically to be the best IB diploma candidate.
Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?
A: I usually just listen to music before a competition.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: I don’t have one, but an artist I have been listening to a lot currently is Sam Smith.

“Karl has been involved in the K-M sports medicine program for the last two years. He has grown into a leader in the program with his intelligence, enthusiasm and hard work, He also competes for the K-M tennis and swim teams. Karl made a 4.0 for semester one this year and has an accumulative GPA of 3.944.” – Teacher Bud Bannon.

A: Sports medicine.

A: Dance and paint.

A: My stepdad, Juan.
Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?
A: We go out to eat.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: The fight song we have been practicing.
