Kentwood High School’s Annelise Hed, swimming, is the Kent Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: Psychology. I find the brain interesting and how we all have the same parts, but we think and act so independently.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Going to Seattle and Alki Beach with family to visit my sister, going on spontaneous lunch dates with my friends.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My teachers at my old high school, Kent Mountain View Academy. They helped me become more confident. I used to be so shy and couldn’t talk in front of the class. Now, I love giving presentations in class and am more confident in the work that I do.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: Before a meet I always go to Jamba Juice and get an orange dream machine smoothie.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Dang” by Mac Miller and Anderson Paak.

From the Sideline

“Annelise is consistently a hard worker, cheers on her teammates and provides leadership by her work ethic, inclusiveness and positive attitude. Annelise finished in the top six at the NPSL meet in two individual events. She was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke and was critical in helping our 200 free relay place second.”
