Kent-Meridian High School’s Jayda So, swimming, is the Kent Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: Math (calculus).

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Reading and watching YouTube.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My parents have helped and supported me.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: I don’t have a pre-game tradition.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Paris” by Sabrina Carpenter.

From the Sideline

“Jayda so deserves this distinction because she qualified in seven out of eight swim meets (district-qualifying standards). She was fourth at the league meet, eighth at the district meet. She also is a member of the all-league first team. She is a delightful, young lady who is maintaining a 4.0 GPA.”

A: Math.

A: Swimming, playing sports with friends.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: Ghislain Bugingo. Great person, superb advisor and role model.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: Music plays a big part in helping me focus and get in tune for my races.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Sicko Mode,” by Travis Scott and Drake.

“Sam has put in great effort. … He missed moving on to state by four places. He made great improvement this season, continuing to bring his times down each race. He comes to practice to do his best and to compete 100 percent. … Sam continues to set his sights high and do what it takes to meet those goals. He is a full-time Running Start student with a 3.208 GPA.”
