Kentridge High School’s Owen Paznokas, basketball, is the Kent Reporter’s Male Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: Photography.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Photography, filmmaking, backpacking and video games.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My mom, who always pushes me to make the right decisions.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: My pre-game ritual constitutes of some meditation beforehand, then I will always play some hard rock to get my mind in the game.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Brighton Rock” by Queen.

Kentridge High School’s Elisabeth Larson, gymnastics, is the Kent Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: Math.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Reading or watching movies with friends and family.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My mom. I wanted to quit gymnastics ages ago, but she told me that if I did, I would regret it. So I didn’t quit.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: To joke around with teammates, to try and laugh the nerves off. After meets I usually eat dinner with friends or family.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “More than Survive” from the play, “Be More Chill.”

“Elisabeth was an integral member of our state qualifying team last year. While it is early in the season, she already shows promise as an all-around gymnast. We are anticipating that Elisabeth will be at or near the top of our lineup on every event. At our season’s first competition, Elisabeth placed on both events in which she was entered. At practice, Elisabeth is always a dedicated worker and is a true mentor and leader on the team.”
