Kent Reporter Female Athlete of the Week: Morgan Martinsons

Martinsons has shown remarkable commitment to the Falcon gymnastics program

The Kent Reporter’s female athlete of the week for the week of Dec. 22 is Kentlake High School senior Morgan Martinsons, gymnastics.

What is your favorite subject/class in school?

My favorite subject in school is math. I enjoy problem solving and working with numbers. There is a sense of fulfillment after solving a difficult or long problem and I also enjoy statistics problems where English, math, science, and overall problem solving comes together.

Name your Mount Rushmore (Top 4) favorite movies:

Waterboy, Forrest Gump, The Pursuit of Happiness,

Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?

The person who has helped me the most in my life is my Grandpa Lamar. He is the most intelligent man I know, and he is always able to provide some of his own knowledge no matter the topic. He is wise beyond his years and extremely selfless.

You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

I would choose Orange Juice and a bag of powdered donuts.

Describe your pre-game ritual:

In gymnastics, its not only competitive, but also presentational. Therefore, I do makeup and hair and try to look very presentable. I usually call my grandparents and drink lots of water before meet.

From the sidelines: Morgan goes above and beyond the typical athlete’s role. She has shown remarkable commitment to the sport and inspiring/helping teammates. Her hard work, resilience, and sportsmanship have not only contributed to her personal success but have also elevated the entire team. As a coach, it’s truly gratifying to see an athlete like Morgan embody the values we hold dear – discipline, passion, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. She has not only excelled in gymnastics but her positive attitude and support for teammates have created a more cohesive and thriving team environment.
