The East Hill and Sammamish All-Stars, which included participants from Kent’s Meridian Valley Country Club, took third place in the PGA Junior League Golf Western Regional at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place last weekend.
The Las Positas All-Stars of Livermore, Calif., captured the regional and advance to the championship.
Ten-player all-star teams, selected based on performance during the regular season, competed in a series of sub-regional championships in their areas, with the winners earning a spot in one of the eight regionals held throughout the country.
Cory Nergaard was the East Hill and Sammasmish All-Stars captain, Chas Holmes and Issac Henry-Cano were the teams assistant coaches. The players came from three area club teams:
• Meridian Valley Country Club: Luke Sherrell, 14; Ben David, 13; Cole Reynolds, 13; Drew Romine, 13; and Garrett Weadock, 11.
• Tam O’Shanter Golf & Country Club in Bellevue: Mats Lund, 13; and – Ashton Breer, 10.
• Fairwood Golf & Country Club in the Renton area: Parker Nolan, 13; Maya Nguyen, 13; and Brayden Vregdenhil, 12.
