The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-1 Friday at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia.
Seattle (16-22-0-1) takes on the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday at ShoWare Center.
Kamloops scored four goals in the first 6:02 of the first period to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
JC Lipon scored 19 seconds into the period and Chase Schaber tallied 13 seconds later to make it a 2-0 Blazers lead.
Colin Smith made it a 3-0 game at 5:03 with a shorthanded goal and then Brendan Ranford scored at 6:02 of the first to give the Blazers a 4-0 lead.
Daniel Cotton replaced Calvin Pickard after the fourth Blazers goal. Pickard made five saves on nine shots and his record falls to 16-18-0-1.
Bronson Maschmeyer scored a power-play goal at 18: 33 of the first to send the Blazers to a 5-0 first intermission lead.
Kamloops (30-10-1-2) outshot Seattle 16-11 in the first period.
Dave Sutter got the T-Birds on the board at 6:21 of the second period just after a power play ended. Colin Jacobs got the puck to Branden Troock in the left corner. Troock held the puck as Sutter pinched down from the right point. Troock made a cross-crease pass to Sutter and he redirected the puck past Kamloops goalie Cole Cheveldave.
The Blazers led 24-16 in shots after two periods.
Lipon scored at 3:32 of the third period and Dylan Willick scored at 7:56 to give the Blazers a 7-1 lead.
The T-Birds outshot the Blazers 8-4 in the third period but the Blazers finished with the game with a 28-24 advantage in shots.
Cotton made 16 saves on 19 shots in his 53 minutes of action.
Cheveldave stopped 23 of 24 shots and his record is now 22-5-1-1.
